Chief Sunset Curator
Tasked with finding inspiration across world-class museums, hundreds of murals, colorful neighborhoods, and plenty of Gulf sunsets.
- St. Pete-Clearwater, Florida
Job description:
About the Role
Visit St. Pete-Clearwater is looking for a creative leader to join the SPC-Suite as our Chief Sunset Curator (CSC). Here, inspiration comes in a full array of colors. Sunset is more than something that happens at the end of the day. It’s a color palette and a point of view, reflected not only in the Gulf at golden hour, but splashed across hundreds of murals, hanging in world-class museum galleries, woven into colorful neighborhoods, and brought to life by the artists, makers, and creative minds who are proud to call St. Pete-Clearwater home. Your assignment is to experience BEACH.CULTURE. through your own creative lens. Follow what catches your eye, discover the people, places, colors and details that stay with you, and share the destination in a way that might just inspire someone else to see it differently, too. The ideal candidate is an artist, photographer, designer, filmmaker, visual creator, or otherwise creative mind with a distinct point of view, a camera roll that doubles as a mood board and an instinct for finding inspiration in the everyday.
Roles & Responsibilities
-
Clock in for highly important field research across St. Pete-Clearwater’s museums, galleries, cultural institutions, and distinct street art. Take notes. Take photos. Take your time. Consider it very serious executive work.
-
Get hands-on with the local arts scene through glassblowing, pottery, stained glass, workshops, and whatever else gets the creative juices flowing. Artistic talent encouraged; learning a talent for the first time is an added bonus.
-
Conduct ongoing Gulf sunset studies, a penchant for all hues of orange is a definite plus.
-
Motivated candidates who are also willing to conduct ongoing sunrise studies over Tampa Bay is a plus – after all we are surrounded by water and beautiful moments of inspiration from sunup to sundown.
-
Take your field research beyond museum walls, following the murals, galleries, studios, architecture, design, neighborhoods, and unexpected details that catch your eye along the way.
-
Meet the artists, curators, makers, and dreamers shaping St. Pete-Clearwater’s creative scene, hear their stories and inevitably leave with a few new ideas of your own.
-
Capture St. Pete-Clearwater through your own point of view and turn what inspires, surprises or stops you in your tracks into compelling social content.
-
Join forces with your fellow SPC-Suite executives across Vibes and Flavor in the pursuit of BEACH.CULTURE.
-
Take your newfound St. Pete-Clearwater expertise on the road for a special BEACH.CULTURE. collaboration in a key U.S. market to be determined.
-
Perform other creatively inspired duties as assigned.
Curation Proficiencies Required

A creative person with a distinct point of view and an instinct for bringing ideas to life. You see things other people might miss.

-
A strong creative instinct and enough influence that people tend to pay attention when you say, “You need to see this.”
-
Proficiency in capturing and creating social content across channels, with a pulse on the latest formats, trends, and visual storytelling styles.
-
An engaging personality and comfort being both behind and in front of the camera.
-
The ability to provide constructive feedback when something is, quite simply, “just not giving.”
